Vibrant & Relaxed

Gili Air

Gili Air is the Goldilocks of the Gili Islands — not too wild, not too sleepy, but perfectly balanced. Closest to Lombok's mainland, Gili Air combines the vibrant dive culture of Gili Trawangan with the peaceful atmosphere of Gili Meno, making it a favorite among long-stay travelers, digital nomads, yoga enthusiasts, and families.

The underwater world around Gili Air is arguably the most accessible of the three islands. The reef starts just meters from the beach, and turtles are commonly spotted even by casual snorkelers at knee-depth. The southeast coast features Bio Rock — an artificial reef structure built to restore damaged coral — a fascinating example of marine conservation in action.

Above the water, Gili Air has a thriving cafe and restaurant scene. The north and west of the island remain quiet and relatively untouched, where coconut palms lean over deserted stretches of beach. Evening meals are enjoyed with views across the water to Lombok's Mount Rinjani volcano, creating some of the most scenic dining backdrops in Indonesia.
