Best Time to Visit Gili Islands: Season Guide for Travelers

The Gili Islands are a year-round destination, but the season you visit in changes the weather, the crowds, and how smooth the boat crossing from Bali or Lombok will be.

Dry season (April to October)

This is the most popular window to visit. Seas are calmer, rainfall is low, and visibility for snorkeling and diving is at its best. July and August are the busiest and most expensive months, so book accommodation and boat tickets ahead if traveling then.

Wet season (November to March)

Expect short, heavy afternoon showers rather than all-day rain, with more humidity and occasionally rougher seas that can delay fast boat departures. The upside is fewer crowds and lower prices on accommodation.

May, June, and September offer a good balance: dry-season weather without the peak-season crowds or prices of July and August.
